Miss America 2011

Tonight is the 2011 Miss America pageant. Watch it on ABC at 8PM central. I wounder who is going to win. All the ladies are well qualified and would do a great job as Miss America. This year Miss America is being sponsored by DSW. DSW is even carrying a Miss America shoe collection. Click here to see all the shoes! Below are my 4 top favorite that I will probably have to get. Plus I think they would work great for my upcoming competition.

China And The Globa Economy: At the conclusion of the president of China Hu's visit with Obama, he asserted that China is a global power equal to that of the US, as stated in an article at www.openforum.com titled "China's Message to U.S. Businesses". I think, however, that China may in the next 25 years be even bigger than the US. For example, in the next 20 years the US will have 4 Nimitz class aircraft carriers (down from 13 today) and China will have 25 (they have none today). We will have 20 B2 stealth bombers and they will have 250 B2 type stealth bombers. Walmart will have 2,000 stores world wide (down from a peak of 8,000) while China's biggest retailer will have that many in just the US alone and over 25,000 stores worldwide. Lastly, China will be the biggest manufacturer of autos in the world, de-throning Toyota and will own 70% of the US market and will own all big three auto makers.

China And Fashion: I wonder what is in fashion in China? What do they wear? Well, the reason why I wonder is because that seems to be a huge market for the US retail industry. Already, the way it is now GM sells more cars in China than in this country; Buick is to the Chinese what BMW is to us here. That may be a hint.

I read a book the other day. And the author said that one day he was on patrol in a jungle deep behind enemy lines with his team when they were ambushed. What he saw next blew him away. Instead of falling back he saw his team charge forward...into the ambush. This motivated him so much that he did the same. And, in the end, they broke the ambush, suffering no casualties. Do you know what this is an example of? Leadership.

I bet that those shoes on this page are made in china. Everything is made in China these days, now even Buicks and Boeing 777 airliners. It's like their economy is expanding so fast that they're going to consume the globe. Did you know that the Chinese built a city about the size of Chicago but they don't have any people to fill it with. It's just one big empty abandoned city. Anyway, here's a list of companies that still make shoes in America, the old fashioned way: New Balance, Red Wing and Allen Edmonds. Go out and buy some.
